IRGC’s income derives from voluntary donations from governments, companies and other organisations that support IRGC’s mission and work.
IRGC has a dynamic funding structure. General funds are used to support the organisation’s work on the concept of risk governance and its high-level application to a number of emerging risks, the preparation of proposals for larger projects, our decision making processes and our administration. These larger projects and our general conferences are financed by separate income. We also welcome in-kind contributions, which can considerably reduce our expenditure.
Our policy is to seek funding from multiple sources, to ensure the independence both of our organisation and of our projects and the publications and recommendations that they generate. To date, our income has mostly derived from governments (50%) and industry (50%). IRGC receives strong financial support by the Swiss Federal Department of the Interior, under article 16 of the Swiss Federal Law on Research.
